“What can we do?” This was matter-of-factly stated to me by a conscious human, at a health-foods store (Lower Mainland, BC) in regards to the scourge of plastic plaguing the aisles of our grocery stores, the coffee cups we sip from, and the bottles we house our water, juice, and sodas in. *face-palm* In the…
No Plastic Straw, Please.
My previous post was all about inspiration and getting out of the sea of bad news that seems to surround us on a day-to-day basis. For Earth Day 2011, here’s one of the things I’m doing to take action and be optimistic about our future: writing a letter to a restaurant in my area, asking…
Take-Out Cups: A Meditation on Waste
Readers, I need to blow off some steam, so pardon the following rant. I’m hoping some of you can empathize: Maybe it’s just me. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen what trash does when it gets out of your garbage can and into a part of the world where people rarely are. I’ve seen the waste…

Ryan, you need to write a book about this trip…..or an article for some very well-distributed magazine, I doubt anyone would believe it. The picture of that bird and the crap from inside it is heartbreaking! On a similar subject you might like to read a book just released by a friend of mine, matt Rigney; the book is called In Pursuit of Giants, and it is about the ocean’s largest fish and how we are eliminating them….
hope there are some saving graces about your visit, not all horrors like this one….Christine
